WeatherRouting

Do these steps once, in this order.

1. Install

  1. Double-click Install.
  2. The Mac says it cannot check the file. Click Done (or OK).
  3. Open System Settings › Privacy & Security. Scroll down. Click Open Anyway next to "Install". Type your password.
  4. Click Open. A window says "WeatherRouting is installed". Close it.

On an older Mac: right-click Install, choose Open, then Open again.

Install puts WeatherRouting in your own user folder: after that you can delete the unpacked folder and the zip.

2. Make my key

  1. Double-click Make my key.
  2. Type your name and press Enter.
  3. The window shows your key: one long line starting with "ssh-ed25519".
  4. Select that whole line with the mouse and press Cmd+C to copy it.
  5. Write a mail to Steef (steef@vanbraband.org), paste the line with Cmd+V and send it.
  6. Or attach the file "WeatherRouting key for Steef.txt" from your desktop instead.

Steef adds your key. He tells you when it is done.

The relay on mx keeps a record of what you download (which models, how much and roughly where), so Steef can see how the app is used, and keeps the messages you send.

3. Start WeatherRouting

  1. Double-click Start WeatherRouting on your desktop.
  2. Your browser opens WeatherRouting.
  3. Keep the Terminal window with the text open. Close it to stop WeatherRouting.

First weather

Open the Areas tab, open an area and press Refresh. The first time this takes a few minutes.

A new version

  1. Close WeatherRouting (close its window).
  2. Unzip the new version, the same way as the first time.
  3. In the new folder, double-click Install, then Start WeatherRouting.

Your boats, routes, calculations and key stay where they are: an update only replaces the app. Then you can delete the unpacked folder.
